Kisumu County police boss Nelson Njiri said there is adequate security for the arrival of the body of the late senator at the Kisumu airport on Thursday.

Njiri said the officers will accompany the body up to Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground for public viewing.

His Homa Bay counterpart, Gabriel Musau, said his officers are equally ready to ensure the burial goes on well without any hitches.

Musau said there will be enough police officers in Homa Bay town when the body arrives for public viewing on Thursday.

“We have more than enough security officers for Thursday and Friday. Their duty is to ensure the viewing of the body and burial ceremony goes on well without any hitches,” he said.

Members of the public are expected to view the body at Homa Bay high school before it is taken for a night vigil at his rural home in Waondo, Mbita constituency.

Musau said more police officers will be deployed at home during the burial ceremony, where several dignitaries are expected to attend.

He appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the police officers to ensure law and order is maintained.

“The public should remain calm and orderly during these two days. I call upon their support and cooperation to ensure Kajwang is given a heroic send-off,” he said.
