Kamau said that it is shocking to note that Nakuru Town has become 'haven of unregulated colleges'.

“We are appalled by the high rate of unregistered colleges offering sub-standard education,” said Kamau.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Nakuru Town, Kamau said that the Ministry of Education should move swiftly and close down these colleges.

“These unregistered colleges have been blamed of lowering education standards in Nakuru Town as they offer sub-standard education,” said Kamau.

Kamau's remarks come after a wide cry by parents and employers, who have raised concern over the poor quality of education being offered by a number of mushrooming colleges.

Furthermore, the employers have complained of half-baked graduates, who are not in tandem with current market skills.

Kamau also said that the same colleges have been fleecing unsuspecting parents of their hard- earned cash.

“Many parents have fallen the victims of such colleges without knowing that they are being fleeced,” added Kamau.

He added that the same fake colleges have been the 'breeding grounds for prostitutes'.

“Some of female students being admitted in these fake colleges have been involved in prostitution,” he went on.

Kamau urged the government to carry out inspection in all Nakuru-based colleges, to ascertain their credibility in offering quality education.
