The event ends on Saturday 28 where a marathon against drug and substance abuse, will be held at the university sports complex.

The campaign has been partly sponsored by the National Campaign Agency against Drug Abuse (Nacada).

Speaking during the launch of Anti-drug abuse campaign, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maurice Amutabi congratulated the entire student fraternity for embracing anti-drug use in the institution, while reiterating importance of shunning drugs amongst students.

“We appreciate efforts made by students over the campaign against drug abuse. Kisii University fraternity is one of those higher institutions which have invested in campaign against drugs which has always affected students halting their general academic performance,” said Amutabi.

The university Dean of Student, Gladys Osoro, reiterated the Professor’s remarks saying that the campaign has always transformed students positively and that is why they decided to celebrate the institution’s sobriety.

Rodgers Nyanumba, the University Students’ President, applauded the scout’s efforts to ensure that their campaign became a reality.

“Scouting club has played a great role as far as the campaign is concerned. As Kisii University we have all the reasons to celebrate,” he said.

The marathon was expected to be launched by the University Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Akama.
