The Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has joined the rest of the country in mourning the death of Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Okoth died on Friday after being taken to ICU in a Nairobi hospital.
In a tweet, minutes after media reports of the death, Muturi expressed his sadness at the development as he hailed the bravery that the legislator had brought to bear on his battle with the scourge of Cancer.
He described the Kibra Member of Parliament as a visionary, indefatigable, and exceptional legislator.
"It is with great sadness that I have learnt of the passing on of Kibra MP, Hon. Ken Okoth, after gallantly fighting the illness that afflicted him. Ken was a visionary, indefatigable and exceptional legislator whose commitment to House and constituency duties was unmatched, " Muturi tweeted.
The MP was diagnosed with the terminal disease last year.
He revealed, in an exclusive interview with the Standard, that the cancer had advanced to be cured and was taken to France where he was undergoing treatment.
Okoth returned to Kenya a few weeks ago from France, giving his constituents hope that his situation had improved.
Kenyans on social media have been reacting with shock to the news of his demise.
