Residents of Mariaini in Gatundu North Sub-County have appealed to the Kenya Wildlife Service to tame two leopards that have been terrorising them.

The residents claimed the leopards were roaming in the village from a farm belonging to Patrick Gatimu and were especially targeting livestock from their sheds at night.

Speaking Tuesday morning in Mariaini sub-location, Alex Ikua, a Nyumba Kumi official said the wild animals have become a threat not only to animals but also residents.

“These leopards have become a huge threat to most residents here. Actually, majority of them fear walking at night. The leopards have so far killed three livestock; two goats and a cow,” said Ikua.

In this regard, the villagers have appealed to the KWS to tame the leopards to avert a crisis in the area.

“We are now urging the relevant authority which is KWS to avert a crisis that has overwhelmed us by removing these leopards from this place. We don’t want more damages for our animals and relatives,” he said

Ikua was speaking at Mariaini shopping centre.
