Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has defended Devolution CS Ann Waiguru over the stalled National Youth Service projects across the country.
Speaking on Tuesday during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Afraha, Arama claimed the projects were stopped due to petty politics and not as a result of loss of funds as has been reported by a section of the media.
He added that Waiguru should not be crucified over the alleged loss of Sh791 million from the NYS project because she was a whistle-blower.
"CS Waiguru was the first person to report about the alleged theft of money set aside for the project. Why then call for her sacking? Let those who were linked to the scam face the law and leave Waiguru alone," he said.
He added that those who were calling for her sacking were enemies of development who are only envious of her success at the devolution helm.
Waiguru has come under sharp criticism over the NYS saga with both opposition and a section of URP lawmakers calling for her suspension by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter (URP) is planning an impeachment motion against her.
