Residents of kisumu county are still in shock after a woman claimed to have been left with a baby; the whereabouts of the mother are still unknown.
The woman who goes by the name Nyakno said that a lady approached her then gave her the baby to look after as she went washroom. She confirmed that the lady never came back.
"The lady approached me and asked me to look after the baby while she went to the toilet, " said Nyakano.
She noted that she waited for more than an hour before deciding to report the matter to the police who issued her with a letter to take care of the infant as they look for the mother.
"I reported the matter to the police who then told me to look after the baby as they are carried out investigations to find out the whereabouts of her mother," said Nyakano.
It is still unclear why the baby was abandoned but traders at the Kibuye market and the Kisumu bus park are pointing a finger at college and high school girls.
"Young men and women engage in unprotected sex which eventually leads to pregnancies that they are not ready to take care of," said Esther, a trader at Kibuye market.
