A man was on Friday morning ordered to pay a bond of Sh250,000 with surety of the similar amount for allegedly destroying a public bridge.
Frederick Muya pleaded not guilty to the charge of destroying the bridge worth Sh500,000 in Subukia sub-county, Nakuru County.
Accused Muya was arraigned before Nyahururu Resident Magistrate Peter Muholi on Friday after he was arrested by Police.
The Court heard that in March 20 this year at Subukia area, the accused intentionally destroyed a government bridge, hence putting lives of people in danger.
Muya also faced other charges of giving false information to Police officers from Subukia Police Station
On other acounts, Muya was charged that in April 7, this year he knowingly gave false information to Police officers, Corporal David Kingiri and his colleague Daniel Nderitu by saying he had given the area Chief Norman Kiiry Sh10,000 for the repair of the bridge.
The Prosecution Desk told the Court that the accused person was arrested by Police from Subukia Police Station after they discovered that he had been lying to them.
Accused Muya could not raise the bond immediately and was remanded at the Thomson Falls GK prison. The case will be mentioned again in April 23 this year.
