Muhoroni residents have welcomed the new position of minority leader in Kisumu County Assembly being held by Ombeyi Ward representative Joshua Auko.
Speaking at Kasese market, the residents led by John Ochome said they have faith in their ward representative and he would be able to bring peace in the assembly.
Ochome said leadership wrangles at the county assembly has stagnated and the entry of Auko will possibly cool tempers down.
“Auko is best suited to bring the bickering at the assembly at a stop,” he said.
He said Auko is a God fearing man and will be able to bring the warring factions in the assembly together and work for the people of Kisumu.
Christine Otieno who also attended the briefing said the people of Muhoroni are humbled to learn that one of their own has been elected in that position.
Otieno said Auko who runs a number of charity organisations in the ward is the best-suited candidate to take over the position and appealed to him to remain focus.
She said the ward representative should ensure that he reaches out to all the MCAs in the assembly.
“We lost Majority leader when Samuel Ong’ou stepped aside but now one of our person has been given the minority leader,” he said.
Auko was last week elected and sworn in as the minority leader after Bob Ndolo who took over from the former minority leader Edwin Anayo stepped down.
