The Amani National Congress (ANC) party has pinned the blame for the violence that was meted out on Musalia Mudavadi's convoy on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking on Sunday after the ANC brigade was chased out of Kibra by unidentified hoodlums, the party's secretary general Barack Muluka held the view that ODM should be held responsible for outbursts of violence that were witnessed in Kibra.
"Previously other candidates have been accosted there by one party that is ODM which does not seem to have any other formula to political office apart from unbridled violence, " the ANC secretary general said. (2:02-2:18)
Barack Muluka called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take the cases of violence with the seriousness they deserve.
He also called on the electoral body to crack the whip on ODM so that an example can be set for those keen on engaging in violence as an election strategy.
ODM has previously denied any responsibility for previous cases of violence.
The parliamentary race entered the homestretch on Sunday with veteran opposition and ODM supremo Raila Odinga descending on Kibra.
Deputy President Dr William Ruto also made a surprise visit to the constituency to campaign for governing Jubilee's candidate McDonald Mariga.
Kibra is widely regarded as a stronghold of the ODM party having been represented for years by Raila Odinga.
Political pundits have framed the by-election as a proxy contest between Raila and Ruto, who are expected to gun for the presidency in 2022.
