A businessman in Wote, Makueni County who went missing on Monday has been found along the road murdered.
The businessman, Dominic Mutuku's body was found 100m away from the Wote-Machakos road in Makongo.
Standard Digital reports that Mutuku's body had deep head cuts, a sign someone killed him before dumping him along the road.
His father, Julius Zakayo is said to have identified the body while on his way from Machakos to Wote.
According to Makueni police commander Joseph Naipeiyan, Zakayo got curious when he saw people crowded at Makongo.
When he arrived at the scene, he saw a man lying dead along the road and without a second look, he noticed it was his son.
“Zakayo was travelling from Machakos and out of curiosity alighted the matatu and identified the body," Naipeiyan said as quoted by Standard Digital.
The deceased's body was taken to Makueni Hospital mortuary.
Police have launched investigations on why he went missing and who killed him.
No arrests in relation to the incident have been made so far.
