Joseph Irungu alias Jowie who is a suspect in the murder of the late businesswoman Monica Kimani will know the outcome of his bail application on February 13, 2020.
According to The Star, Justice James Wakiaga while setting the date for the ruling said the application was not only premature but also did not have merit.
All witnesses who have been protected by the state will have to testify and a social inquiry to be conducted before Jowie's appeal of a bail application is considered.
This is however not the first time that Jowie is fighting to be released on bail. His previous applications had been rejected by the High Court which ruled that he was a flight risk.
On November 21, Jowie applied for the bail afresh. He pointed out that his co-accused former Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe had been released on bail.
“My second accused (Jacque Maribe) was granted bail and she never absconded court. I deserve the same,” he told the court as quoted by Citizen Citizen Digital.
Jowie further pointed out that he did not have any intention of travelling out of the country and offered to surrender his travelling documents including passports.
The bail application was however denied on the grounds that Jowie had traveled widely.
