In a blistering tweet on Thursday, Dr Aukot accused authors of the initiative of copying his own Punguza Mizigo push.

He criticised the Ugatuzi initiative saying that it was filled with proposals which were not new.

He claimed the push by CoG was an extension of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and was expressly aimed at fighting his Punguza Mizigo initiative.

"Just had a quick read of the #UgatuziInitiative. It's nothing but an appendage of yet to be known #BBI and a poor attempt to fight #PunguzaMizigoBill2019. Some proposals are NOT KNEW at all. They're already in the CoK 2010. Never mind the copying of #PunguzaMizigoBill2019,"his tweet read.

Earlier today, governors under their umbrella body CoG officially unveiled the Ugatuzi initiative, which they said would go a long way in entrenching devolution in the country.

"As the Council of Governors, we are glad to contribute to the Constitutional review by introducing the Ugatuzi initiative. It is an initiative that is devolution centered to ensure that we give counties financial autonomy and further entrench devolution in Kenya," CoG tweeted

Ugatuzi initiative was proposed at the height of the Division of Revenue standoff that saw the 47 county administrations slug it out with the national government.
