Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has appealed to residents to take part in the upcoming census.
The county boss warned local politicians against fueling propaganda aimed at misleading residents to boycott the exercise.
Nyagarama said the exercise is very crucial as it will help the national and county governments to plan especially on resource allocation.
"I want to make a special request in a special way to the people of Nyamira on the upcoming census exercise slated to start on August 24, 2019. Residents should shun a section of individuals who may be out to incite them not to open their doors to be counted. Those recruited to conduct the exercise are Nyamira residents," he stated.
Nyagarama expressed confidence that the census exercise will run smoothly across the county, noting that Nyamira residents living outside the county should make plans to travel home and be counted there.
"Residents living and working outside the county should consider coming back home and be counted so that Nyamira will have good numbers which will help the national government allocate resources to the region," added the second term county boss.
He was speaking on Sunday when he joined faithful at Nyamira Central PAG church during the official opening of their newly built sanctuary.
