The Kikuyu OCPD has on Wednesday banned boda boda operators in Zambezi against night operations following numerous complaints of robbery from the residents. 

Speaking from his office on Wednesday, SSP Mutune Maweu said that over 8 cases have been reported. He added that despite his warning earlier on, the cases were being reported frequently hence the harsh decision. 

Maweu mentioned that the operators had failed to work with the police but instead chose to work with criminals in order to gain from their criminal activities. He warned operators that serious action would be taken against such operators since they would be considered criminals as well. 

"I hereby ban boda boda operators from operating past 9pm and whoever is found operating will be arrested and charged," he said.

All Sacco managements in Zambezi have received the order and it has taken effect with immediate effect. 

A bodaboda operator in Zambezi, Mr. Joseph Kimani said that he was saddened by the order because he said that his business would be affected. He further explained that they earn a lot during the night since many people in the area arrive during such times. 

However, he also added that since it is a directive from the police with regards to security, he would follow the order. He additionally asked the police to meet Sacco managements to find a more better solution for the matter.
