Gatundu South residents have decried increased crime and cases of rape in the area which they blame on laxity by the police.
The calls follow an incident where a class three girl was defiled last week but the culprit is still walking free despite being known to the residents.
"We are very angry with police officers here. We are asking the Gatundu OCPD to take action and arrest the guy who defiled this girl. We know him, he is called Njuguna", said Samuel Kinyua,a resident during a protest.
They said they won't allow evil minded people to continue terrorising their children as the Police watch.
“Why are the Police not arresting this man? Do they want us to take the law on our own hands?", asked Elizabeth Wanjugu.
Ruth Wanjira said, “We will only rest when we hear that Njuguna has been arrested. Justice must be done to the poor child.”
The residents said that the minor had been living with her poor granny and father after her mother died when she was only a year old.
