Kisii County veterinary and extension service department has issued a stern warning against those offering veterinary services to the county farmers without academic credentials stating they will be faced with legal disciplinary action.
Speaking from his office in Kisii, County Veterinary Service Director (CDVS) Dr Moenga Omwoyo, told the 'quacks' and other extension service practitioners in the county to quit the unlawful venture or else face the full force of the law.
Dr Moenga appealed to all Kisii livestock farmers to notify the authority or report any suspected individuals who are taking advantage of the un-suspecting farmers by pretending to be extension officers.
He said the quacks offer sub-standard services to farmers whose result is very detrimental and risky.
He expressed his concern over the increased number of ‘fake’ vet officers in the county who have resorted to village practise and taking the farmers' hard-earned cash for un-professional veterinary services.
"I warn those uncertified vets to put their tools down before the law takes its course. Either you go to class and train like others or go elsewhere," said Dr Moenga.
This comes amid allegations of rampant cases of unqualified veterinary officers who have been offering services to livestock farmers without proper knowledge and academic qualification.
"The quacks have always caused health complications to the farmers’ animal and we are called upon once such cases are experienced to go and correct the anomalies," he said.
