Speaking to the press at Lake Naivasha Country Club, the two groups entered into a partnership pledging to offer support in ensuring that the devolution is realised.

According to Ali Noor, who chairs the MCAs, the two groups agreed to be meeting at least three times every year to analyse their progress in devolution matters

“We will be meeting quarterly to analyse and correct ourselves both as MCAs and governors. This will prevent the bitter rivalry and animosity that was there before between the two factions of government,” he added.

Noor added that the MCAs were also going to spear head the campaigns to have the budgetary allocations of the counties increased.

“The money is not enough. If we have to solve all the issues regarding devolution, they have to increase the amount of money being given out to the counties,” he added.

The chair of the governors Isaac Ruto said that the partnership was long overdue.

“There needs to be mutual understanding and we hope that we can breed better partnerships which will translate to better services for the people,” said Ruto.
