An employee of Hyrax Pre-historic Site and Museum Paul Chepkwony who had suffered from a mental breakdown after work and went missing for two days and was rescued by Kenya Defense Force officers along Nakuru-Dundori road near Lanet barracks.
The officers rushed him to the Nakuru War Memorial Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The Museums Public Relations Officer Zakayo Akwaro said that the security officer had been complaining about a ‘strange’ illness before he went missing on Monday evening after work.
“Our colleague has been complaining of a strange illness. He had been diagnosed with epilepsy disease some time back and warned against drinking by doctors. So we suspect that he had been drinking before he lost his bearing and senses,’ ’said Akwaro.
Akwaro added that frantic efforts to locate his colleague had started immediately after his wife reported that he had not reported home on Monday evening.
According to Akwaro, the KDF officers found the Museum’s security officer lying unconscious at a thicket near the barracks on Wednesday morning as they went about their normal duties before identifying him.
He said an Automated Teller Machine card and telephone numbers belonging to his wife and some of his colleagues that were retrieved from his pocket helped identify him when they called him and his wife.
