Speaking at Eldoret town on Wednesday, the speaker said that people are eager to get services especially following centralisation of government services.

The speaker said that devolution should be for the interests of Kenyans, and leaders must focus on providing services.

“Uasin Gishu government must implement policies that will spur growth for the people and improve more on development,” said Terer.

The speaker noted that provision of better and quality services is the responsibility of every elected leader, asserting that the county assembly will support development ideas brought by the county administration.

Meanwhile, the speaker asked leaders and residents in the county to embrace each other and stay away from acts that will hinder unity.

He added that the county, especially Eldoret town was among hard hit areas during the 2007/2008 post-poll skirmishes.

“Our appeal is to Uasin Gishu county residents to embrace unity among themselves and their neighbours,” said the speaker.

To promote peace and unity, the speaker said they are supporting campaigns aimed at enlightening locals on the need for a peaceful society.

The speaker also warned politicians from the region against hate-speech and tribal utterances that may divide the region.
