Nakuru County agricultural officer, Zablon Kamau has urged Bahati farmers to embrace modern technology in farming to help them in improving their livelihoods and increase their production.
Kamau said that farmers should embrace good agricultural practices and modern technologies to meet the demand of food production.
Speaking yesterday at Bahati Trading Center during a farmers' day, Kamau said that use of chemicals and fertilizers have helped farmers to reap maximum benefits.
“Farmers should adopt modern farming methods like applications of fertilizer and use of chemicals to realize better produce”, said Kamau.
He urged farmers to have a keen interest in attending agricultural seminars to help equip them with current farming practices.
“ There is need to shift from traditional to modern farming through attending seminars”, said Kamau. Kamau urged farmers to take advantage of the Agricultural Development Fund that was set by the county government to help farmers improve production.
“ Farmers should use the newly set Agricultural Development Fund to boost animal and crop production”, said Kamau.
He said that he fund would facilitate farmers with farm inputs like fertilizers ,agrochemical animal drugs and fishing equipments.
He also said that the fund would enable in market research and strengthening farmers' organizations.
