Garissa Township MP has now called upon responsible authorities to beef up security in Garissa.This comes after Abdullahi Kassim, a resident of Garissa was shot dead on Wednesday.
It is alleged he was shot by men looking alike to police officers.Duale has since appealed to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai to investigate Kassim's death.
"I strongly condemn the heinous murder and urge the Inspector General of Police and @DPPS_KE as independent institutions to carry out investigation into the circumstances that led to the death," noted Duale.
Duale who doubles up as the National Assembly Majority Leader further appealed to residents to keep calm and maintain peace as the authorities probe the matter.
"The perpetrators of the heinous murder must be brought to justice, arrested and tried in a court of law. We are asking the citizens to maintain peace, law and order and give chance for independent investigations," said the Garissa lawmaker.
Last week, security forces successfully destroyed an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) at an assembly site in Gaame, Ijaara area as the fight against terrorism intensify.
The site served as a health centre for sick and wounded militants and according to intelligence reports. Several weapons and explosives were recovered at the site.
"Weapons, explosives, electronics, large amounts of black explosive powder, foodstuffs and medicine were recovered from the scene,” read part of the intelligence report.
To fight insecurity in the area, residents have been urged to also report any suspicicous activity to the authorities.
