Kesses Chief Sally Letting has warned residents against engaging in the illicit brews business.
The chief warned of dire action against those found manufacturing and selling the brews.
“A few days ago we arrested some people were preparing illicit brew and we managed to lock them up. Right now they are paying huge fines for their deeds,” the chief stated.
She was speaking on Tuesday in Kesses when she joined mourners at the burial ceremony of Mary Birgen.
The chief said most of those preparing the brews were also involving children and youths instead of being role models to them.
“We as parents should take the lead in giving our children and youths direction and moral support. It is embarrassing to see a parent misleading his/her child with the excuse of using them to manufacture the brews to raise money,” she added.
Letting also thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for his move to declare war on illicit brews in the country.
The chief was also contented with the fact that none of his residents were earlier this month caught up in a basement disco in Eldoret where over 500 students were arrested for engaging in drugs and sex.
