Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has challenged youths, women and persons living with disability in the constituency to be aggressive and apply for the development funds being dished out by the government.
Speaking on Saturday at Kinoo Trading Center, Waititu said the money under the Uwezo Fund will help youths, women and persons with disability to start enterprises that will generate income for them.
The Kabete MP said that being aggressive will enable the marginalised groups increase their chances of receiving the funds.
“You must be aggressive and show us that you really need the funds. It is sad that some of you are coming to the offices even without application forms and other required documents,” said the MP.
Waititu who presented several cheques to youth groups in Kinoo, asked them to form groups and discuss the business ventures they want to start before sending in their applications.
He said that the constituency still has funds to dish out to those who will qualify before the closure of the financial year.
“We still have money to give out before we close the financial year in June,” he said.
Waititu also asked youths who have already benefited from the funds and have been successful to start repaying the funds. He noted that by repaying, they will enable others to benefit from the fund.
The Kabete legislator at the same time urged the national and the Kiambu County government to create more programmes that will help curb unemployment which he said is high in the constituency.
