According to some of the affected farmers they found that their animals had been attacked or killed, and some of their livestock were still in critical conditions.

According to the area chief Samwel Ongori a total of 20 animals were found dead in different compounds.

“Some of the farmers who were lucky to hear the animal cries saved their flocks and the leopard ran away. No one managed to kill any of the leopards. I have written a letter to the county offices so that they can take the appropriate action to stop the leopards in the area increasing,” said Ongori.

Biliah Nyatioki, a farmer said she woke up this morning only to find carcasses of goats and sheep littered in the compound after a leopard went on a killing spree overnight.

“I woke up to find dead sheep all over my compound. This is a very heavy loss to me and I would like to call upon the county government officials to make sure that the leopards are gotten rid of,” said Biliah.
