Police in Kuria West sub-county have launched a massive manhunt for an assistant chief for allegedly murdering a man during a drinking spree on Sunday night.
Anthony Chacha, Nyamanche sub-location assistant chief is at large after he was accused of killing Obadiah Chacha, succumbed to knife wounds on Monday evening.
According to Nyabasi Central chief Peter Mwita, the two were drinking chang’aa, before the administrator used a sharp knife to stab the deceased severally after he accused him of having an affair with his wife.
Speaking on Tuesday to our reporter, Daniel Kerario, the deceased’s brother and an administration police officer at Sigot police station, Kisumu County said he his brother was stabbed twice on the stomach.
According to Kerario, the chief and the deceased had a disagreement at the chang’aa drinking den on Sunday, over an alleged love triangle.
He added that the chief is suspected to have been having an affair with the deceased wife, and that could be the reason behind the squabble.
He said the deceased was rushed to the Migori level four hospital, where he lost his life on monday evening due to excessive bleeding.
Kerario blamed the area administration over their laxity to take the matter seriously, saying since the incident occurred; no action has been taken by the police.
The body of the deceased is preserved at Migori Level four mortuary waiting for autopsies.
