Nakuru County government will bury 15 more unclaimed bodies, a few weeks after it disposed of others.

Nakuru county chief public health officer Samuel King’ori said that the bodies were lying at the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital for more than three months.

He said that the mortuary was already overstretched in its capacity and hence the need to clear the bodies.

King’ori called upon residents who have had their relatives missing to check out for them in the mortuaries.

“We have many unclaimed bodies especially accident victims. If they are not claimed, we will bury them in mass graves,” he said.

King’ori was speaking to the press in his office where he called upon Kenyans to give the correct information in case they are contacted by morgue attendants.

“We have often tried to track the relatives through phones of the deceased but unfortunately, they ended up lying to us and giving us untrue information regarding their relationship to the deceased,” he said.

Kingori pointed out that they were awaiting a court order to bury the bodies.

“We will issue a 21-day notice for the relatives to collect their bodies after which we will bury them,” he added.
