The government has yet again come under criticism from Esise residents in Borabu constituency following a mysterious death of senior banker from the area.
On Friday, several mourners gathered in a nearby riverbank where the body of Mr Festus Mogire, a Barclays Bank worker, was found with initial indications showing he was shot from a close range.
According to them, the government has failed to tackle rising insecurity in the region with about six people reportedly dead under unclear circumstances.
“This is not the first time we are reporting insecurity incidents. This is the sixth person we will be burying as a result of insecurity. The government has not responded in any manner to avert these killings,” said Jackson Ochengo.
They accused the government of laxity and demanded that police officers from Nyansiongo to be transferred since they allegedly did little whenever residents reported the incidents.
“We have a police force that is totally incompetent. They can arrest those found brewing chang’aa but cannot deal with insecurity. We want them to be transferred if the government is serious to combat these crimes,” said Alice Gwaro.
However, Borabu OCS John Kiplimo said police from the region have been pursuing such criminals and so far two people have been arrested and are in police custody for interrogation.
“As police, we are doing extremely well and I think we deserve credit. Already two people have been arrested in connection with the recent mysterious deaths in the region and I think they are giving us useful information,” he said.
