Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i reckons that it was a privilege to serve Kenyans in the just-concluded year.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Matiang'i said that it will even be a big honour to continue serving the country in the coming days.

"It was a privilege to serve our country in 2019, and it will be an even greater honor to continue building on our past positives to progressively improve our security and citizen services in 2020. I wish every Kenyan a prosperous and Happy New Year full of God's blessings," he tweeted.

Dr Fred Matiang'i is considered as "Mr Fix it" for President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is serving his second and final term.

Last year, through an Executive Order, President Uhuru Kenyatta elevated Dr Matiang'i to oversee national implementation of projects across the country.

Currently, he chairs the National Implementation Cabinet Committee which plans and coordinates government programmes.

The committee also provides “coordinated and strategic communication” to the public and other stakeholders on the progress of national government projects and programmes."

Further, “prepare accurate and timely progress reports for presentation to the president.”
