Keroka chief Kennedy Ndege has vowed to fight the making, selling, distribution and consumption of illicit brew in his area of jurisdiction.
This is after Nyamira County commissioner Amos Mariba threatened that chiefs doing too little to end the illicit brew business in their areas of administration will be sacked.
Saturday speaking in Keroka, Ndege said he is not ready to lose his job because of illicit brew dealers.
"I will not be axed because of few individuals engaging in the outlawed illicit brew business. Starting Monday, it will not be business as usual in my area. Illicit brew dealers should pour the illicit brew on their own before I reach them," he said.
Ndege noted that he will engage Nyumba Kumi officials in the crackdown of the illicit brews.
He also challenged residents to report the notorious illicit brew dealers to authorities for legal action of the taken without delay.
"Poverty is on the rise because of the consumption of illicit brews. Alcohol addicts sell their property to meet their illicit brew thirsty. I will not condone the sale of illicit brew whatsoever," the chief noted while appealing to residents to venture into businesses legalized by the government.
