ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale has weighed in on Wendy Waeni's case in which she has accused her former manager, Joe Mwangi of defrauding her and misusing her social media accounts.
Etale recounted one particular incident in which questions were raised on why14-year-old Waeni's social media account were active yet she was in school.
"When Wendy joined Form 1 early this year, her Twitter handle continued to be updated even when she was in class. One tweep asked why she was busy on social media and not class. The response was "It is none of your business"... Now we know who was doing this. Joe," Etale wrote on Twitter.
Etale further cited that it was sad to have Waeni's mother, Magdalene Syombua selling sweets despite the fact that the young gymnast had performed for various presidents across the world.
"There is no way Wendy could have performed for Presidents Uhuru, Kagame, Mahama, Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel et'al and fail to be given some token of appreciation. Surely, after all these high profile performances, her mom still sells sweets and cigarettes. Sad," Etale said in a separate tweet on Thursday.
City lawyer Donald Kipkorir has also called for Mwangi to be arrested and charged with international crimes of Child Slavery & Trafficking'
Kenyans on social media have also asked the relevant authorities to step in and take action against Mwangi.
