The Nyandoro Kambi Foundation on Monday announced a plan that will see at least twenty families from Borabu Constituency have their leaking roofs fixed.

This comes a moment after a section of youth from Nyamira County took the county leadership head-on in the official county’s Facebook account accusing it of neglecting certain families that were forced to flee their leaking houses due to intensive rains in the region.

On Monday evening, Kambi, a politician in Borabu, said his foundation will expeditiously fix leaking roofs of houses belonging to at least 20 families from the region that have been identified.

“I have noted that (leaking roofs) with concern and I want to announce that we are fixing at least twenty houses of Borabu residents mostly grass thatched. My Foundation has identified extremely needy cases and we have purchased iron sheets to try and change the roofs to give those people better lives,” he explained.

Kambi vindicated the county government from immense criticism and said it was upon members of the society to chip in and help but faulted the national government over its delay to identify the cases and fix them.

“I don’t think that the county government has a role to play in this one. We are aware that the National Government set aside some funds to help the victims of El Nino rains and this are the kind of cases to help. The society has also a role to play by accommodating those who are affected,” he said.

Most of the beneficiaries hail from Esise and Mekenene wards with a few cases from Kiabonyoru ward in Borabu constituency.
