Eight people are set to appear in court today for allegedly idling and smoking bhang along the streets of Yatta town on Sunday evening.
According to Yatta OCPD Edward Kispang, security officers and community policing officers collaborated in conducting patrols on Sunday evening where they arrested the culprits on respective points of the town idling at night while some were caught with bhang.
Kipsang said that the patrols have been intensified to ensure they seize all the criminal gangs that have been operating in the area and attacking the residents at night and especially business people.
Speaking in an exclusive interview this morning, the OCPD added that he is in the frontline among the other officers to ensure he acts as an example to them during the patrols and insisted that he has been in all the patrols and the officers have done a commendable job.
"I have been there in the patrols with the officers and I have seen them do a great job in flushing out criminals. I want to show them that we can do it together and succeed and I am leading them," he added.
Meanwhile, the members of public have been warned against walking at late nights as the officers are apprehending anyone who has no business to conduct at night and that they should close their business heading home and not idling in the areas.
He said that idlers are suspected to be potential criminals and they are not left out of the security swoop. He called on them to assist police in dealing with the insecurity menace in the area.
