Bomachoge Borabu Member of Parliament Mr Joel Onyancha has challenged teachers in his constituency to take care of pupils and students during ongoing El Niño rains.
He said there is need for teachers to be responsible enough when it rains by ensuring no student is out of class when it rains to avoid loss of lives through lightning strikes.
He also challenged parents to buy shoes for their children during El Niño rains since they should be in shoes when it rains to avoid lightening strikes.
Kisii County disaster management department officer Mr Julius Tinega who was present at the event advised residents not to shelter under trees when it's raining to avoid being struck by lightning.
“Don’t shelter under trees when it rains to avoid being struck by lightning,” said Mr Tinega.
