It has been revealed that many public schools, hospitals and health centres in Nakuru County are treading on dangerous ground as many of them do not have title deeds.
According to the county's Lands and Planning executive Rachael Maina, only around 150 out 500 primary schools in the county have title deeds.
Following the revelation, Maina has now said that they have started to take data of all the schools and hospitals without title deeds so that they can assist them to acquire the vital documents.
"We have started the process to ensure that all the public institutions here get titles to keep them safe from grabbing," said Maina at her Nakuru office Wednesday.
She added, "Our Education Department has given us a record of all the schools in the County and now we know those with and without title deeds."
Maina said that the county government will facilitate them in surveying the land and also work with National Land Commission to repossess any land that could have been grabbed.
This comes at a time when the country is grappling with land grabbing issues largely blamed on state machinery with an insatiable appetite for land.
