President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his satisfaction on the progress of the Lamu Port project.
The head of state said that the port will be launched in October upon completion.
He also said that the completion of the project is set to create more jobs for the youth of this nation, adding that he plans to support the project in different ways.
Uhuru also lauded government officials and the contractor of the project for the good work undertaken at the facility to ensure it is complete.
He said that he will oversee the launch of the project when a ship will dock at the place. Uhuru further said that the jobs created at the port will not only benefit Lamu residents but also other Kenyans from different parts of the nation upon inception.
"Since I was here last year, it is true you have worked hard. Very soon, next month, we will be here to open the first berth which I am told you will have completed," he announced, as quoted by Standard.
He also said that the Jubilee government under his leadership has plans to unveil a crude oil pipeline that will run from Turkana all the way to the Port as his government seeks to promote job creation.
Uhuru also remained vigilant that the workers at the Port will benefit from the completion of the project at the end of the day.
