Residents of Magombo Ward in Kitutu Masaba Constituency have urged the government to consider deploying more security personnel in the region, to curb insecurity incidents that have marred the area.

This comes a week after two people were found murdered on separate occassions, with others raising an alarm over a suspected group of gangsters demanding money from each house hold.

Speaking on Wednesday at a grand meeting near Magombo township stage, the residents, led by area MCA Ezra Mochiemo gave the government a week to resolve the predicament.

“We are citizens of this nation and we are entitled to security. The township has no even a single security personnel manning it and that is why our people are targeted by criminals. We are not going to relent and the government must deploy security officers to the place,” Mochiemo said.

According to the residents, they had made a request to the County Commissioner of Nyamira, who has since not acted on their request.

“I took some ten residents with me and we had a discussion with county commissioner Josephine Onwong’a. Sadly, nothing concrete has been done and we have continued to suffer. We want the issue to be resolved urgently,” he added.

They urged the police to expeditiously investigate the recent killings and bring the perpetrators to book besides calling for unity to combat the escalating insecurity.
