Baringo leader of majority Simon Kalekem has called on the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) to be extremely careful to prevent civilians from getting injured.
Kalekem said that when carrying out the Baringo operations, the use of heavy machines in search of criminals in the area could end up hurting innocent residents.
“The bombs that they use could kill people who know nothing about the current operations,” he said at a press conference in at Naivasha Country club.
“In your search for bandits, do not hurt everybody who crosses your paths. We appeal to the police to use the right intelligence while carrying out the process. We suggest that they also engage old men and women and public barazas to help in resolving the conflicts,” he added.
Kalekem also suggested for dialogue between leaders from both communities.
Laikipia University Naivasha Campus student leader Erastus Lesaris blamed the local political leaders for the raging war in the area.
“Politicians are the ones who are fuelling and funding the war. They are well known and can easily be traced. We appeal to the government to bring them before the court of law,” he added.
