Parents in Kisii have been challenged to support and train their children on good morals in order to excel academically.
Speaking on Friday during a prize giving ceremony in Nyaguta secondary school in Nyaribari Chache sub-county, Kisii County deputy governor Joash Maangi observed that many students who perform well in national exams have good morals.
“I ask parents to be role models to their children in their social-academic endeavours. This is one way forward that can see a student excelling academic-wise,” noted Maangi.
The deputy governor also challenged the community to create a conducive environment to their children so that they can concentrate while studying.
He challenged parents and guardians to invest in the education of their children.
“The community has failed on its side, it is not giving the students humble time while pursuing their education. Let us support our children because they are an investment to our future,” Maangi said.
He said the county government is ready to establish modalities and logistics to improve diminishing education standards in the county.
