Naivasha Sub-county might get its first public girls boarding school next year, Naivasha primary school board members have intimated.
According to the Board of Governors of the boarding primary school, there is an agreement in place to separate and partition part of the school land into construction of a sister school.
Led by the school Parent Teachers Association chairman Stanley Ndemo, the management argued that they had received many proposals from parents who wanted a girls school.
“We thought it wise that they should have a proper place to learn from. This will actually become the first girls boarding school in the area and in Nakuru County,” said Ndemo during a breakfast meeting at the facility.
He cited that the construction of the school was being considered and might start any time soon.
“Naivasha boarding has been voted the best boys public boarding. We are sure that with the girl child, we can also produce the best students for the Kenyan high schools,” he added.
Naivasha Sub-county education head Mugo Kabati argued that the idea was ready for maturity.
“The school was started in 1958 and this idea will ensure that the girl child gets quality education too. We hope that it can materialise soon,” added Kebati.
Area Member of County Assembly Eunice Mureithi appealed to the management to fasten the process and have the construction started soon.
“This will ensure that the girl child also focuses more on education and has a nice learning environment,” she said.
