Ruiru residents have condemned the Ruiru Water Board for providing poor water services in the area.
A section of the residents say that the drinking water pipe has burst and the water is now mixing with raw sewage.
Led by a Kiambu County based human rights activist John Waweru, they said on Monday in Ruiru town that the problem has been there for three weeks and they now risk getting water-borne diseases.
"The water is mixing with sewage and there is nothing being done about it," said Waweru.
Waweru has said that the water board is ravaged by corruption seeing that it has been charging water exorbitantly while offering no services.
"A cup of water here is more expensive than tea. Having our own water board did not help," he said.
He also had a bone to pick with the elected area leaders.
"If they attended the Jamhuri celebrations that were held at Ruiru Boys, they would have known that we shunned the stadium because it was full of sewage," said Waweru.
They now want the board to be scrapped and reconstituted afresh.
