Led by Bahati police boss Stephen Rono Koskei, the officers in a joint operation nabbed the illicit brew hidden in a maize farm in the area owned by one of the arrested suspects.

“We were informed of the illicit brew business by the public. We will pursue and arrest other brewers who managed to escape,” said Mr Koskei.

The illicit brew which was impounded today during the operation which also involved residents was destroyed by the police on the spot.

Area Chief Edward Njurai thanked the community members whom he said were very cooperative with police officers in the fight against sale and manufacture of illegal brew.

“The community has been very active in this fight through community policing and the Nyumba kumi initiative,” said Njurai.

He urged residents to continue working with security agents to help curb the menace in the area.
