Two middle-aged brothers were on Tuesday arraigned in court for allegedly stealing from a frail woman.

Brian Mworia and James Mburu both from Mang’u appeared before the Resident Magistrate Esther W Mburu and pleaded not guilty.

The court heard that on April 3, 2015, the two with the help of Dominic Muigai who was not in court nabbed Margret Mugure a frail woman who owns an apartment in Kamwangi.

On the material date at 9:00 pm, the accused invaded the victim’s residential house in Mang’u where they allegedly used a knife to inflict several wounds on the victim’s chest before stealing Sh 250,000 from her bag.

Prosecutor Stella Oyagi, told the court that both were traced by a CCTV camera inside her house which was later used by Mang’u police station officers as evidence.

The brothers were arrested on April 6, 2015 and taken to Thika Police Station.

Mworia and Mburu told the court they did not recognise the woman and pleaded not guilty to the charges levied against them.

The Magistrate noted how frail the woman was and the case was decamped and later handled at the chambers. Both of the accused were handed Sh 300,000 bond each without a cash bail option.

The case will resume for hearing on April 27, 2015 where the investigating officer and some neighbours who are witnesses in the case are expected to testify.
