Speaking on Radio Maisha on Monday, the commentator said that things would have been better had the same been the case during Aukot's 2017 presidential bid.

He termed it wonders that the latter managed to pull all those signatures to his favour yet he got less than 50,000 votes in an election where about 19 million people voted.

"Maajabu ni eti Aukot amepata sahihi nyingi kuliko kura alipata. Ingekuwa vizuri kama angebadilisha ziwe kura.

(Wonders that Aukot gathered more signatures than his votes. It would have been better had he transformed them to votes)," he joked on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha.

He also expressed confidence that Aukot personally managed to make the achievement, ruling out chances that he is working under orders of some hidden images.

According to Chebunet, Aukot has demonstrated that he is personally handling the entire issue and is no one's project.

"Hakuna mtu nyuma yao, hawa ni watu wamejipanga na wanajua kule wanaenda (there is no one behind them, these are organized people with a clear direction)," he added.

Aukot emerged a distant third in the August 2017 polls before emerging a distant second in the October 26 rerun that was boycotted by former Premier Raila Odinga.
