Health problems begin in several forms ranging from mild to severe.
Not all conditions are worth ignoring as some can be symptoms of underlying serious health conditions.
If you have any of the following symptoms that develop quickly, book an appointment with a doctor;
1. Unexplained weight loss
Losing weight unplanned could be a symptom of underlying health problems such as cancer of any type. Unexplained weight loss is a symptom in up to 36 per cent of people diagnosed with cancer. Endocrine system infections and gastrointestinal conditions like inflammatory bowel syndrome also cause weight loss.
2. Shortness of breath
This can be a symptom of respiratory problems such as infections of the lungs, blood clot in the veins, congestive heart failure, irregular heart rhythm, bronchitis, pneumonia or asthma. This is usually accompanied by severe or mild chest pain or coughing.
3. Persistent pain in the head
This can come as headache or some kicking pain in the head. Do not misinterpret this to be a symptom of tiredness because it could mean you are developing brain tumours or even a developing stroke.
4. Excessive urination
Peeing 7 to 10 times in 24 hours is considered excessive urination according to doctors. If you find yourself peeing a lot without drinking a lot of liquids like water, coffee or alcohol then you could be diabetic. Note that this condition is only serious when it happens to you without drinking too much liquids.
5. Changes in bowel habits
The bowel is the area below your stomach; your intestines. Some of the things you should watch out for include bloody, black or tarry stools, persistent diarrhoea or constipation. Others include abdominal pain and bloating. These symptoms could mean stomach or colorectal cancers are developing.
Visit a doctor if you experience any of the above symptoms.
