Residents and traders in Kisii town have appealed to Kenya Power to be prompt in responding to emergencies and save more lives.
Their pleas come after a man was electrocuted on Wednesday after stepping on exposed live wires near St Jude building in the town.
Speaking on Thursday to Hivisasa, the residents accused the power distributor over its reluctance to cover all the exposed wires saying they were endangering people's lives.
Shem Nyarongi who spoke on behalf of the residents said that there are many open live wires in the area and that Kenya Power is doing little to address the matter.
“There is a looming danger. The other day Kenya Power engineers came and put a stone to cover some of the wires but it was washed away by the rains thereby exposing them further,” said Nyarongi.
They have now appealed to the company to urgently come to their aid.
The Wednesday incident is the third incident this year.
Meanwhile, Kisii County Police Commander Simon Kiragu has urged residents to be extra vigilant and also report any problem to the relevant authorities.
