The Nyamira patrol officer Ken Kiptanui has asked motorists and road users to observe traffic rules to avoid accidents during this December season.
Kiptanui said such festive seasons come with increased number of travellers and so public service vehicles take advantage to overload and speed to increase their profits but also endangering lives in the process.
Speaking to this writer in his office in Nyamira on Monday evening, the officer said he has directed the traffic police department on the highway to carry out a thorough crackdown on errant motorists.
Kiptanui called on passengers to avoid boarding vehicles which are full, but instead help the police in identifying those who are violating traffic rules to avoid road carnage.
The officer at the same time cautioned motorists plying the road to be cautious and avoid speeding while driving along the curvy road that is characterised by sharp bends and corners.
“Police officers will be stricter to ensure that no incidents are reported in the month of December and other days to come,” he added.
