Residents of Machakos County have been urged to work with their elected leaders to ensure both peaceful coexistence and development in the region.
Addressing the press in Athi River on Tuesday, Mavoko Member of Parliament Patrick Makau said the leaders had legal mandate to represent the locals in all aspects.
"I call on Machakos residents to work with their elected leadership and to avoid dancing to the tunes of new comers in politics," said Mr Makau.
The MP said divisive politics among some politicians eyeing various elective positions in the region was polarising the county, frustrating development among residents.
He argued that such politics were premature and it was time to deliver services to benefit the 'common mwananchi' who needs their livelihoods and living standards improved.
He said as much as there were notions that the county was ahead in terms of development, there are lots of areas which should be improved, including water and infrastructure.
He urged the locals to join hands with their serving leaders in a bid to promote development and improved living standards in the entire county.
