Kiambu women have been challenged to take part in active politics and to aggressively fight for their rights.

Mumbi Ngaru, an East Africa Legislative Assembly member says that women have to take part in politics if they want their voices to be heard.

Speaking at Ndumberi grounds in Kiambu on Tuesday, she said that the time is ripe for Kiambu and Kenyan women to engage in active politics.

She added that the constitution includes the fair inclusion of women in leadership adding that they (women) must take advantage to advance their agendas.

Ngaru further urged the national and the county governments to adhere to the constitution and implement the two-third gender rule.

She also called on the county governments to spearhead women empowerment programmes which she said will equip women with skills on social economic matters.
