County’s president for People Living with Disabilities, Kennedy Kombo, challenged Governor James Ongwae to form modalities of having beggars and street families empowered economically.

Speaking at Gusii stadium during official launch of County flag by the Governor, Kombo regretted that it was shameful for a developing economic hub like Kisii town to have street beggars positioned at strategic angles, questioning credibility of the County in addressing challenges facing such members of society.

"We cannot entertain the culture of street begging by people who have the potential of being empowered to earn a living from doing their daily income generating activities, instead of idling and begging  in the streets in the guise of seeking income for themselves and their families," Kombo said.

He regretted that majority of beggars in Kisii streets were energetic people supposed to contribute towards nation building, instead of idling in the streets seeking for help from passersby in the town.
